Modern living room kept comfortable by climate control

Mastering indoor comfort matters. A well controlled home is not just nicer to live in, it is cheaper to run and better for the equipment keeping you comfortable. Here are the five things we tell customers across Bexhill-on-Sea and East Sussex when they ask how to get more from their system.

1. Let a smart thermostat do the thinking

Heating or cooling an empty house is the most common waste we see. A smart thermostat or the scheduling feature built into most modern air conditioning systems lets you match comfort to your actual routine, warming or cooling rooms just before you use them and easing off overnight.

2. Zone your home

You do not need every room at the same temperature. Multi split systems and zoned controls let you cool the living room in the afternoon and the bedroom in the evening rather than the whole house all day. If you are considering a new installation, tell us how you actually use your rooms and we will design around it.

3. Mind your insulation and draughts

Climate control works against every gap in your home. Sealing draughty windows and doors, topping up loft insulation and closing chimney dampers all reduce the work your system has to do. In older seaside properties, which we see plenty of around Bexhill and Hastings, this is often the single biggest win.

4. Run heat pumps low and slow

If you have an air source heat pump or use your air conditioning for heating, resist the urge to blast it. These systems are at their most efficient running steadily at a moderate output. Big temperature swings cost more than holding a consistent, comfortable level.

5. Do not skip the annual service

Efficiency quietly drains away through dirty filters, fouled coils and slipping refrigerant charge. An annual professional service restores it and catches faults while they are still small and cheap. It is the best value habit in climate control.
